OLDER PEOPLE

Older people are really welcome at St James'. Whether you've retired and want to get more involved in serving, or you're looking for company and a community, we'd love to hear from you.  We value diversity and encourage intergenerational activities. Many of our older members enjoy helping out at our children's and youth events. We are also aware of those members who are unable to physically attend church, and schedule pastoral visits for prayer and communion.

Plan a Visit

We have older people at all of our services, and we are fully accessible. Let us know you're coming and we'll look out for you. Our Wednesday morning service is a traditional holy communion service popular with our older members.

For more information, please do get in touch with our Operations Manager, Naomi, on 01200 423608 or by clicking on the link below to email.

Anna Chaplaincy at St James

Anna Chaplaincy is a way of supporting older people emotionally and spiritually, for people of strong, little or no faith at all.

Allison Lord is our Anna Chaplain, and she visits older people in residential and nursing homes or private homes. She is a semi-retired nurse who is passionate about the spiritual care of older people.

Pastoral Care at St James

We have a committed and dedicated Pastoral Care team, whose priority is enabling people to engage with worship - whether that's distributing home communion, praying with people or setting up a YouTube link. Peter Williams, our Pastoral Care lead, is a Licensed Lay Minister and also supports the Pastoral Care pathway for Blackburn Diocese Authorised Lay Ministry.
